About
Coal mining
On December 10, 1908 the sale of land one mile south of Camrose City Centre became the first coal mine in the immediate vicinity of Camrose. This land, which was at one time the centre of a large coal deposit and eventually the site of a large scale mining initiative, can now be found west of the Four Seasons Environmental Centre covered by natural prairie grasses.
Camrose Ski Club
The pioneers from Sweden , Norway and Scandinavia brought with them their love of ski jumping and cross country skiing. On October 12, 1911 the Fram ski club (Fram is Norwegian for forward) was formed. Camrose is now home to the oldest Nordic Centre in Canada!
